Chief Justice Zhou Qiang: Chinese Courts convicted 1,419 people in 2015 for harming state security

Beijing: Today (13th March), the Top Judge from China said that the there have been convicted more than Fourteen Hundred people by the Chinese Courts in the year 2015 for their involvement in the harm to the National Security, like taking part in the terrorism and secessionist activities, and as such, it was further stated that double a broadly equivalent number given for 2014.

It was seen that the over the past few years, there were hundreds of the people killed in Xinjiang province which is China’s resource- rich province and strategically located on the borders of the central Asia. Such killings were found results of the violence between the Muslim Uighur people, who call the region home, and ethnic majority Han Chinese.

The Officials have made the Islamist militants and separatists responsible for the unrest, while the Rights groups and exiles say at Chinese controls on the religion and culture of the Uighurs is more to blame for the strife.

Chief Justice- Zhou Qiang in an annual report to largely rubber- stamp parliament of China, said that the Chinese Courts have convicted 1,419 people in the year 2015 for harming state security, including taking part in the terrorist attacks and secessionist activities.

Moreover, in the work report filed by him, the Chief Justice- Qiang said that there have been convicted 712 people for separatism and terrorism in the year 2014 by the Chinese courts. Thus, the conviction is nearly double in the last year. He further found stated that the courts, last year, have stepped up their efforts against the people who were found instigating the secessionist activities and also who led, organized and took part in the terrorist groups and also who spread video and audio products about terrorism. Adding to this, he further said that the courts, this year (2016), will well implement the laws on the state security and counter- terrorism and severely punish terrorist and secessionists.

Moreover, the Western Governments were also appeared expressing their concerns towards Beijing, even if the Third ranked leader from China, last week, rebutted criticism saying the country was taking a “distinctly Chinese approach” to national security which its pushing of new laws.
