JNU punished rebels; Kanhaiya fined of Rs. 10,000; Umar and Anirban rusticated with others

New Delhi: Yesterday, on 25th day of April, the Jawaharlal Nehru University decided to impose fine on the Students’ leader- Kanhaiya Kumar of 10,000 rupees and other three to be rusticated for varying duration over their alleged role in the controversial event held at 9th day of February, this year for which they were charged with sedition and proceedings against them in the court going on.

The said students’ leader- Kanhaiya Kumar had allegedly organized an event on 9th day of February, where it is also alleged against these students that they were involved in sloganeering against the nation, and that event was to discuss the execution of parliament attack convict- Afzal Guru. They allegedly termed his execution as ‘judicial killing’.

The issue of sedition charges against these students’ leader and students was popular across the country, during recently passed days. But, now, the Jawaharlal Nehru University, which has based on findings of the High- level committee- HLEC, decided the rustication of the Umar Khali- a student, for semester and also another leader Anirban Bhattacharya is also rusticated till 15th day of July. Besides, the said Umar Khalid is also imposed with the penalty of 20,000 rupees. And another- Anirban Bhattacharya is also additional barred from Jawaharlal Nehru University campus for the 5 years period from 23rd day of July.

Besides, such impositions against those three, the rustication is also made of a forth student, namely- Mujeeb Gattoo, who is being Kashmiri student. He is rusticated for 2 semester with the penalty of 10,000 rupees which is imposed against the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union- JNUSU joint secretary Saurabh Sharma. This Joint Secretary is the only member from ABVP in the said Students’ union.

Besides all such in- house proceedings, the students like JNUSU President- Kanhaiya Kumar, Umar Khalid and Anirban were also arrested on the charges of sedition in the month of February, and during proceedings before the Patiala House Court, there was seen huge agitation in the National Capital. Besides all such actions by the JNU against its students found involved in said allegedly improper acts, the university also imposed fine against other students, including former JNUSU President- Ashutosh Kumar and others.
