Whenever Shankar (22) a Dalit engineering student and Kausalya (19), hailing from Palani in Dindigul area, were holding up at the Udumalpet transport stand, a gathering of outfitted men went ahead a bike and hacked them with sickles before escaping, police said.
Police hurried the site and took bleeding couple to the Government Hospital here. While Shankar passed on in way, while Kausalya’s condition is said to be very critical, and she is in treatment, police said.
The couple, said to be different castes had begun in love and had got married eight months back by avoiding the restriction from their families and the gang was related to the lady, police said. Further investigation are on, police included. Girl’s father surrendered before local court today, says police.
Before this incident, they were attacked twice and at that time they used to escaped. but in this third attempt unfortunately they couldn’t escaped.
