New Delhi: In connection with the allegations against the under secretary in the Union Home ministry, that he had allegedly issued FCRA notices arbitrarily to several Non- Governmental Organisations for financial gains, he was arrested yesterday’s night by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
It is notable that the said officer- Anand Joshi, from the ministry was missing from four days back, and when he found he allegedly gave unconvincing answers to CBI’s Special Crime division’s team which placed some questions to him, including the questions as to his disappearance of files related to Sabrang Trust of Teesta Setalvad- activist.
The arrest of such officer from ministry was confirmed by the spokesperson to the CBI, namely, Devpreet Singh. It is also notable here that this officer was captured from Tilak Nagar area of West Delhi and thereafter, he was taken to the headquarters of CBI for questioning, then declared as arrested.
The Central’s agency was tracking him, and as per their statements, they got information of his availability in West Delhi area, at about 5: 00 PM he was detained.
Notably, the present case is involving the said officer and also some other unnamed persons for their indulging in corrupt practices and arbitrarily issuing notices to several Non- Governmental Organisations. The case is registered under the provisions of Foreign Contribution Regulation Act- FCRA.
