Mehsana; Gujarat: Yesterday, on Sunday, 17th April, ‘Curfew’ has been imposed in Mehsana town at Gujarat, after over 20 people including both the protesters and also the police personnel were injured in clashes between the Protesters and Police.
The protesters were claiming for rally on their demand to release of their leader Hardik Patel from jail and on the other side, the police officials found denying the said claim and permission for conduct of such rally. Moreover, in the said grave incident, the prominent Patel community leader Lalji Patel was also found injured along with others.
It was pointed from the reports that some from the protesters started throwing stones at the Police personnel, when the said Police officials cracked down the protest, by blocking the alleged rally.
Moreover, it was also seen that to take the situation under control, the Police also sought to fire the teargas shells and after a dozen of such teargas shells were fired the Police and later Police took in their hands, lathicharge which has injured several. It was also seen besides the several number of protesters injured, the Police men were also seen receiving injuries in the clashes.
Notably, as per Lochan Sehra- the District collector of Mehsana stated that the protesters were informed earlier by the authorities that the permission for their rally had been denied, despite that the protesters sought to conduct the same.
Moreover, he also levelled allegations against the protesters saying “there was stone pelting at the police following which police had to take action as per law.”
It was seen that from the last year, a protests from the Patel Community was initiated in Gujarat for their demands to have reservations in the educational institutions and also in the jobs.
The concerned Patel community leader- Hardik Patel who is aged about 23- years- old was arrested by the Police in connection with the sedition charges. His arrest was made in the last year’s October month.
Moreover, the Sardar Patel Group’s spokesperson- Purvin Patel recently found stated that, “Our Patel brothers were brutally beaten up during the peaceful rally today” and as per his Lalji and few other group’s leaders found receiving “grievous injuries in the police lathicharge”. Thus, as per the spokesperson- Purvin the Group along with the support from the Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti has called for “Gujarat Bandh tomorrow” (Monday).
