Kollam, Kerala: Sudden explosion took place during the Paravoor in Kollam- based Puttingal Devi Temple at around 3 AM on yesterday and as per Police statistics around hundred and above people were killed and hundreds of the people were injured in such explosion. Current, reports says at about 10 AM, today, PM- Modi announced Rs. 2 lakhs each for deceased persons and Rs. 50,000 each for injured, as compensation.
As per the Police officials, while there being a temple festival in said Puttingal Temple in Kollam, a fireworks display had commenced at the Temple precincts since midnight and number of people attracted the show and they were enjoying the show.
All of a sudden, at about 3 AM, an explosion is, as per police suspicion, would have occurred at the Storeroom ‘Kambapuram’ which was filled with crackers and pyrotechnics material that time, which has subsequently covered entire area and resulted in the massive killings and injuries.
As per the Police officials, there are number of Men, Women and also many from the Police officials were also found dead in the incident. Some from the injured were also taken to the Trivandrum Medical College which is located at the State capital and among them also, few persons where declared dead. Others were also taken to the hospitals in the district for first aid.
Moreover, when political leaders and other dignities got knowledge of this mishap, they also felt the gravity and expressed their feeling in their comments, as such as per Oommen Chandy- the Chief Minister of Kerala who termed the incident “unprecedented” and “alarming” the situation at said Temple. He also decided to rush the spot, after cancelling his schedules. He declared that the rescue operation is over.
Also, as per V S Sivakumar- Health Minister who said that the hospital authorities have been directed to make necessary arrangements for the injured.
However, as per the reports from the local media, who quoted the district authorities and said that the Temple Authorities were already given warnings against holding of a huge firework in the area vulnerable to such accident.
Thus, one can feel the impact of the blast, as it was learnt from the reports that the sound of the explosion in the storeroom place was heard by the people in around 2 Km’s radius of the temple, quoted people.
