Kolkata: Pakistan batsman Shoaib Malik expressed his surprise over the Eden garden pitch at seeing spinners getting help, he blamed the batsmen of their side for the loss to India in the ICC World Twenty20 group match on Saturday.

“Losing and winning are part of the game but the fact remains we need to improve in a few areas, especially our batting. Even though the pitch was tough to bat on, I feel we could have set a better target. Credit goes to the Indian team for playing the way they did on a difficult pitch,” says malik after the defeat to their arch-rivals Indian team.

“We were not expecting to get this kind of pitch. Even Dhoni said the same thing. We thought the pitch will be similar to the one we played on against Bangladesh,” he said. “We all are human beings and we can just have an idea of how the pitch will behave. Looking at the pitch, it didn’t seem to be different from the one against Bangladesh. In fact, it looked to be better wicket. There are things which are beyond our control but the one thing that we need to focus on is our batting,”  said the Pakistan Middle Order batsman Malik.
