Thiruvananthapuram: In connection with the allegations that prison authorities were offering the special treatment to beedi baron Mohammad- Nisham, an investigation is ordered.
The Beedi Baron- Mohammad Nisham is convict of the Killing of the security guard in a fit of rage. Now, as per probing order, the DGP (Prisons)- Rishiraj Singh has directed IG (Prisons)- H. Gopakumar to the effect that an inquiry to be conduct and its reports be submitted by him.
As stated by the DGP- Rishiraj Singh, on 17th day of March, the IGP will be visiting the jail and will report the instances, if any, by next day thereof. It was seen, in the wake of media reports, that the 40- years- old convict- Nisham was lodged by the jail authorities in the cell in the 10th block, which means to house prisoners suffering from metal ailments, to exempt him from hard work. Also, it was found that he was also allotted a helper.
In the case for which he was convicted was that he was found killing the security guard of his residential complex, as such the Thrissur court in January, this year, convicted him to suffer sentence of life imprisonment, along with additional 24 years and also fined to pay Rs. 80.30 lakh.
The deceased- Security guard- Chandrabose was assaulted by Nisham, who was in an inebriated state and later he rammed his luxury vehicle against him on 29th day of January, 2015. Thus, the guard died on 16th day of February, 2015.
Thus, with the media reports, it was stated to have found that the Jail Authority, taken this convicted- Nisham in the special cells so that he be given a special treatment and will be offered an exemption from working in the jail. Such, special treatment was not ordered by any court, thus, the action is sought to be investigated against, by the IGP. Now, these allegations would be hopefully made clear by the reports which the IGP will be submitting after investigation.
