Mary Kom and Subramanian Swamy take oath as Rajya Sabha’s Member

New Delhi: Today, on Tuesday 26th April, the Olympic medallist- Mary Kom and former union minister- Subramanian Swamy were administered their oath of becoming the member of Rajya Sabha.

Yesterday, on Monday in the Rajya Sabha it was seen that nine newly- elected members were sworn and notably out of such nine, there were five members who sworn were from the Congress party.

It was seen that in all such members who were sworn for the Rajya Sabha membership and are belong to congress party, including the Himachal Pradesh’s won hit seat namely- Anand Sharma, from Assam- Ranee Narah and Ripun Bora, and also from Punjab there were Pratap Singh Bajwa and Shamsher Singh Dullo were administered oath for Rajya Sabha Membership yesterday.

Moreover, in the remaining category, the two members were seen from the CPI- M (Communist Party of India- Marxist namely, from Tripura- Jharna Das Baidya and from Kerala- K. Somaprasad. Not only these members, but from the Shiromani Akali Dal, the member namely, Naresh Gujral and also from Bhartiya Janata Party- BJP the member namely Shwet Malik from Punjab were also administered oath for the membership in Rajya Sabha.

It was seen earlier, when for the Rajya Sabha nomination, the MC Mary Kom who happens to be the woman boxer in the Country, she found much excited. She found stated that “it’s an honour for me. I didn’t expect it.” I was focusing on my upcoming competitions and performing better.”

Moreover, she claimed that when she met with Amit Shah- the President of BJP in Delhi, she was thinking that he wanted to wish her luck for her upcoming competition and discuss sports.” However, she got surprised, when Amit Shah asked for her biodata for the nominations.

She was also asked to remain “tight- lipped until the nomination were announced.” She also added that she would serve for her country, “be it as a boxer or as parliamentarian.” She also said that “in every field, you need to believe in yourself and do things with confidence. I have always challenged the norm. I have continued competing despite being a mother.”
