Newly appointed Taliban leader is offered with choice of ‘peace’ by United States

Washington: The United States Deputy Spokesman for State Department said that the new Talibani leader is having an opportunity to choose peach and also to work for a negotiated solution for joining the Afghan- led peace talks.

While confirming this, the said Spokesman, namely Mark Toner found stated to the news agencies, yesterday, on Wednesday, that “we would hope that he would seize the opportunity.”

The said Taliban leader, namely, Mawlawi Haibatullah Akhundzadais a religious leader and he was appointed recently as a new leader for Taliban. The said appointment was effected after the death of Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansour in a United State drone strike in Pakistan on last Saturday.

Earlier the proposal made by the Government of Afghanistan to the Taliban over peace was rejected by it. The said US’s Spokesman- Toner also found stated that “he (Akhundzada) does have an opportunity in front of him to choose peace and to work towards a negotiated solution. We hope that he makes that choice now.”

Moreover, Ashton Carter- Defence Secretary of United States found maintaining hope that the better sense would prevail on the new Taliban leadership which is led by Akhundzada.
