Udhampur: Two soldiers were on duty at the area near to LoC in Kargil sector got washed away by an Avalanche hit on Thursday night. One soldier got rescued on Saturday and another one is still missing and rescuers are in searching to find the missing soldier. People are advised to be cautious for next 48 hrs due to Avalanche warning issued in higher areas of Jammu & Kashmir.
Last month in Siachen glacier, a major avalanche hit a soldier camp and 10 soldiers lost their life.
On 3rd February, 9 Army Jawans lost heir life due to a snow crashed into the camp in remote Siachen galcier, the tenth soldier Lance Naik Hanmanthappa Koppad miraculously escaped from under the 25 feet of snow and was rescued by the rescuers after 6 days and lived for 3 more days before he passed away in the hospital.
