Washington: Even though the countries like China and Pakistan being nearly neighbouring countries were closely coordinating moves to block India’s entry into the NSG- Nuclear Suppliers Group, but United States on yesterday, Friday found stated that India meets missile technology control regime requirements and it is ready for entry into the exclusive club.
While talking with the reporters at the daily news conference, the State Department Spokesman- John Kirby stated that “I’d point you back to what the president said during his visit to India in 2015, where he reaffirmed that the US view was that India meets missile technology control regime requirements and is ready for NSG membership.”
Moreover, it was also seen that the said statements from the spokesman from State Department came against the question on the reports that the Pakistan and China have joined their hands for opposing the move where India to become the member of the NSG- Nuclear Suppliers Group.
Also, the said spokesperson- Kirby further said that, “I am going to refer you to the governments of China and Pakistan with respect to their positions on India’s membership.” He also added that “Deliberations about the prospects of new members joining the Nuclear Suppliers Group are an internal matter among current members.”
However, when came to know about the said move, then it stated while defending its move for blocking entry of India into the NSG, that the several members of the forty- eight nation bloc shared its view that signing of the NPT- Non- Proliferation Treaty was an “important” standard for the expansion of NSG.
The statements were released by the Foreign Ministry spokesperson- Lu Kang from China that the China along is not of the view that Nuclear Non- Proliferation Treaty is the cornerstone to safeguard the International nuclear non- proliferation regime, but there are other NSG members are also saying this.
Moreover, when China was asked about its favouring the entry of Pakistan into NSG, the said spokesperson- Lu said that NSG being the important part of NPT, this NPT has been the consensus of the International Community for long.
