An explosion at an under-construction gas station near 16th and Guerrero in San Francisco’s Mission District sparked a major fire, officials said.
An explosion at a gas station in San Francisco’s Mission District caused a huge fire in the area, San Francisco Fire Department confirmed.
According to reports, the fire broke out at an under-construction gas station in the area of 16th and Guerrero streets in the Mission District. Videos and photos from the scene showed large plumes of black some rising in the area as the firefighters responded.
Here’s a photo of the incident shared on social media by a local reporter:
“Firefighters extinguished the fire within 10 minutes using a foam Agent There appears to be some residue gas in the tank which ignition during the removal,” San Francisco PD said in a statement.
“At this time a company has been called out to remove the remaining fuel so the construction crew can safely continue working at a later time. There is no danger to the public.”
The Mission District is a neighborhood in central-eastern San Francisco located east of Noe Valley.
